On Sunday 15th August morning worship was led by our locum minister, Rev Norman Nicoll. We attempted for the first time to provide a live recording of the service through Facebook and the video has now been uploaded to the church’s Youtube channel at

Departure of Rev Dolly Purnell
On June 13th Rev Dolly Purnell led worship for the last time at Arbroath: Old and Abbey Church. Dolly had been with us for seven years and had done so much to move the church forward, especially in the area of children’s ministry. She introduced Messy Church which grew in popularity largely due to her energy and enthusiasm and she proved to be a very popular chaplain at both Ladyloan Primary School and Hayshead Primary School. We will miss Dolly enormously but we wish her happiness and success as she begins her new ministry at Wardie Church in Edinburgh.
At last week’s Angus Presbytery meeting Rev Michael Goss was appointed as our Interim Moderator and the Kirk Session will work with Rev Goss to ensure that our church Sunday services will continue in the church hall at 11am and, as social distancing measures are gradually reduced, we will have room for more than the current limit of 40 persons. It will still be necessary to book your place and this can be done by emailing the church office at church.office@old-and-abbey-church.org.uk or by telephoning the office (01241 877068) on a Friday morning between 10am and 12 noon. Please come and join us – you will be very welcome.
