A large gathering of families met on the last Friday of November for our last Messy Church of 2016. The story was, not surprisingly, the Birth of Jesus and the crafts were all Christmas decorations and gifts. The pictures below will give you a flavour of the fun we had on the night.
The Ladies Fellowship will meet on Wednesday 16th November at 12.30pm. Please come along – you do not have to be a church member – we would love to see you there!
The next meeting of the Men’s Group will be on Friday 2nd December at 7pm in the Church Hall. The evening will take the form of a ‘Not in the Pub – Pub Games Night’. All males over the age of 16 will be made very welcome.
On Friday 23rd September the ‘Busy Bees’ Messy Church was attended by over 50 adults and children and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Instead of the usual crafts we started with a ‘Treasure Hunt’ in the church then moved to the Hall for team and parachute games. After all the exercise everyone was happy to sit down and listen to Dolly tell the story of ‘Martha and Mary’. The evening finished as usual with tea. We hope the photographs below will give you a flavour of the fun we had. Perhaps you would like to join us nest time on Friday 21st October at 5.30pm.
The Men’s Fellowship Group is designed to get us out of the house and spend a bit of time together, doing something fun outdoors or indoors depending on the weather, having a laugh and getting to know each other a bit better. Our first event is on the 22nd August to Forbes of Kingennie Country Estate, situated on the outskirts of Dundee near Wellbank. If you’re man enough (male, 16 and over!) and fancy having a go on the Cairngorms Putting Green then you are welcome to come join us. We will be leaving at 7pm from the church and travelling by car. Speak to me, text or email me if you want information about this or other monthly events that will be happening over the course of this year and next specifically designed for MEN!
This year’s Summer Holiday Club – ‘Catch the Post’ – written by our minister, Rev Dolly Purnell, was a huge success. During the week over 50 children participated in the games, crafts and songs while they explored the bible stories of Jesus’ Birth, Jesus at the Temple, Jesus’ Baptism, The Wedding at Cana and The Feeding of the 5000.
Mid-way through the week we went on a trip to the Dundee Science Centre which everyone thoroughly enjoyed and on the Friday evening we held an extra session for the children and their families which concluded with a buffet supper thoroughly enjoyed by about 100 people.
Many thanks to Dolly, Gavin, Neil and all the volunteers along with members of the congregation who through their donations helped to make all of this possible.
